Dating is fun, but sometimes it’s also tricky to keep the conversation flowing. For some people, chit-chatting is an art-form, but, for others, they have a little more trouble getting the conversation going. If you are one of those people who needs a little help, it’s always advisable to pick a place with a lot of stimuli so you have ice-breakers galore. Here are three examples of great yearly ice-breaker events:
Master of Taste. Anytime you can find over 300 wines with a Robert Parker score of 90 or higher, you know you are in for a treat! This is what we found at the Robert Parker Wine Advocate Master of Taste event at the Conrad Hotel.
Every wine there was rated and rated high. A perfect ice breaker for a date because who wouldn’t have something to say about all these delectable wines. Plus getting a comfortable buzz can never hurt in enhancing the romance on any date.
A few of our favorite wines that we tasted were: The Patriarch from Franck Family Vineyards, the Chaleur Estate 2014 and B Wise Moon Mountain, Krupp Brothers 2015 Chardonnay and the Martin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.
Whiskey Live: Whiskey Live is a yearly event produced by Whisky Magazine where the world’ best whiskeys, scotches and bourbons are all in one room and you can taste to your heart’s desire.
This is a perfect date activity because the tasting provides constant conversation. You can also get to know the other person’s taste and get a little tipsy in the process. We enjoyed going to the Glenlivet Master Class as well as learn more about Whisky from many of the producers on hand to talk about their brands.
The Whiskeys that my husband and I particularly enjoyed this year were from the High West Distillery in Utah, the Ardbeg whiskey, Heaven Hill as well as New York’s own Tuthilltown Spirits.
Big Apple Barbeque– Each summer, Big Apple Barbeque takes place in Madison Square Park benefitting the Madison Park Conservancy. This is an excellent place to take a girlfriend or date because it is a lot of fun with a lot of great food to boot.
You and your honey will have no shortage of things to discuss as you roam around this outdoor ticketed food fest. There were 16 pitmasters who brought the best of BBQ right into NYC.
We loved Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ where we tasted a pulled pork sandwich with spicy mustard coleslaw, Rodney Scott’s BBQ where we tasted St Louis ribs with coleslaw and 17th Street BBQ where we had Baby back ribs and tangy Pit Beans. Yummm!
